Learn to make cutscenes in unity3d by building a stealth Game.
Objective: Composing The Shot.
Before doing anything we need to look at the Director's pdf, and how he wants us to compose this cutscene.
- Here is the first shot.
2. This is panning not a shot
3. Here is the third shot
To do this we use Cinemachine to archive these three shots.
In the First step, download Cinemachine, going to window < Package Manager <Unity Registry, Search Cinemachine and Install.
After it finishes installing, go to the cinemachine tab < Create Virtual Camera, this will create a virtual camera on a hierarchy.
Rename the cinemachine to “CM OTS Shot”, which stands for Cinemachine over the shoulder shot.
Now we need to create over a shoulder shot, where a camera creeps on Darren’s left shoulder, we do this by moving toward Daren's shoulder using the right click plus WSAD key to position the camera angle then selecting the virtual camera and hitting ctrl + shift + F to get the first shot view from pdf of the director.
In the next step, the Camera pans up to see Darren’s eyes and acknowledgment of success while the security guard remains asleep. We need to create another virtual camera and position the camera according to the third instruction. Then move by click right click and WSAD to move when you feel that this is the correct position hit Ctrl + Shit + F.
Note: you will notice I have left the second shot we will do that in the following article.
Now we can switch between the camera, to preview if we have set the shot clearly. We use the cinemachine Virtual camera component on the inspector, bellow there is an option called the status tab, by clicking that option we can switch between cameras to preview the shot.
See you in the next article I hope you learn something.
